We consider sun direction, beam spacing, post positions, and how the structure relates to the house. An open pergola offers a different experience from a solid-roof pavilion; the choice begins with the shade you want.
If solid overhead shelter is your priority, compare a pavilion. An open pergola can also form part of a complete outdoor living plan or be coordinated with a custom deck.
